Lightnings at Exeter. Photographed on the apron at Exeter Airport sometime (I think) in early 1993. XR773 served with 74, 56, 5 and 11 Squadrons and also with the Lightning Training Flight. She was retired from the RAF in 1988 and became part of BAe's fleet of Lightnings, used for various chase and test duties. She was then sold to Classic Jets and ferried to Exeter on 22 December 1992. Keeping her airworthy in the UK was sadly not to be and she was then sold to Mike Beachy Head's Thunder City operation in Cape Town, South Africa. She's now a regular flyer there as ZU-BEW.
