Delivered to 12 Squadron in September 1963. Modified for "Black Buck" operations from Ascension Island and was the prime aircraft for Black Buck 1, but went unserviceable after take off and returned to Ascension. Acted as reserve aircraft for the second mission. Allocated 8778M in early January 1983 and flown to Cosford on 20th January 1983 for preservation.
