On June 21, 2008 I took this photo at Chico Municipal Airport, KCIC, Chico, CA. KCIC was well situated to assist in the aerial-firefighting efforts of the California Department of Forestry and the U. S. Department of the Interior. This CH-47 appeared and was at Chico for several days, attacking unusually early season wildfires. It, and some Blackhawks, and a S-61R were based at Chico, where they refueled, underwent routine maintenance and awaited adequate visibility some days. The first fire started 4 or 5 miles from the airport and luckily was blown to the East. There was much smoke on the 21st, the day of this shot. The aircraft probably came from California Army National Guard in Stockton, California.
