An early picture of G-AVTL landing at Finchampstead, about 10 miles north of Blackbushe. From a correspondent - This is the "Bristol Belle" the first full-size modern hot air balloon to be built in Britain. I know this because I helped Malcolm Brighton build it. The envelope was designed by Malcolm Brighton for the Hot Air Group and assembled by Vacuum Reflex at Martlesham in Suffolk. The burner was manufactured by CF Taylor of Wokingham. The basket was built by the Workshop for the Blind in Peckham, London. The Hot Air Group did their pilot training at Weston on the Green south of Oxford.
