Fairey were commissioned to build this delta-winged prototype, powered by a Rolls-Royce Avon engine with afterburner. The cockpit hinged down to allow increased visibility for pilots during take-off and landing and was the direct predecessor of the Concorde supersonic airliner. One of only two Fairey Delta 2's ever built.
