In this photo the aircraft wears the colours of the 48 Squadron Dakota flown by Rex Daniell, one of the co-founders of South Pacific Airlines of New Zealand, in the attacks on the Orne bridges carried out in the early hours of D-Day 1944. It has since been repainted in a post WWII RNZAF colour scheme.
