This lightweight fighter was designed by W E Petter as a private venture in an attempt to stem the weight and cost increases of combat aircraft. Powered by a Bristol Siddeley Orpheus turbojet and with fuselage mounted u/carriage which also served as an airbrake when partially extended. 740 was the 2nd development aircraft and flew at Farnborough in 1957. Seen here at what was then The Southampton Hall of Aviation.
