One of the last Lightnings in RAF service, 898 was among 6 purchased from Binbrooke by Arnold Glass on 30 June 1988. Initially maintained by RAF ground crew, CAA certificaion for civil flying was not forthcoming and it was scrapped in 1994, the nose section surviving in private ownership.
