Spitfire replica currently held in storage in Billingham , Teesside. Will be erected on a roundabout on the former wartime airfield at Thornaby. Will be pole mounted in mid-March and dedicated in a public service on Sunday 1st April 2007. Two sets of code letters are carried to represent two Spitfire squadrons which flew from Thornaby. RAO-B ; 608 (North Riding) Squadron RAuxAF and YO-T; 401(RCAF) Squadron. The roundabout is adjacent to Bader School on Thornaby Road, the A1045, at the junction of Bader and Trenchard Avenues . This part of Thornaby "newtown" was built on the old airfield, hence the appropriate names .
