Though a part of the YO-3 development program, the Q-Star was a one-off conversion of a Schweizer SGS 2-32 sailplane, modified to be a propeller and engine testbed. It was registered simply as a "Lockheed Q-Star", with the owner listed as the Lockheed-California Co., and should not have "YO-3A" attached as part of its proper designation. The actual YO-3A was related, but was a completely different aircraft.
