A personal memory - Joan Hughes taught me to fly, mainly in G-AIRI. As CFI West London Aero Club she signed off my PPL on 6 May 1957 after 30 hrs. flying scholarship course At that time the cost for solo hire was £3 per hour and you could purchase a Tiger Moth for £400.
