One of Heathrow's truly exotic visitors, this aircraft crashed at Rheinelander-Oneida Airport (WI) on 15 October 1970. Used for low-elevation airborne geophysical surveying - note the wire draped from nose to wings to tail, and the magnetometer stinger at rear. The sensor shown nested in its cradle to the right of N610FF was lowered on a cable during the survey flights, to sense the electromagnetic fields in the earth that are caused by pulses from the main wire loop. The aircraft was selected for its near-instant power curve, for safety in very low level contour flying.
