Aer Linte bought 5 latest model 749 Connies in 1947 but after abandoning plans for Transatlantic services they were briefly used by Aer Lingus then sold to BOAC for Sterling which avoided 'dollar purchase' problems. BOAC had been involved in the setting up of the Irish Transatlantic service
