Photographed taxiing in at Manchester this Q400 is now named 'The Mary Peters' after the Pentathlete Dame Mary Peters who won the Pentathlon gold medal at the 1972 Olympic Games. The new nose art was unveiled on the 2nd September 2012 at George Best Belfast City Airport (EGAC) in the presence of the legendary sportswoman during a ceremony to coincide with the 40th anniversary of her winning the gold medal in Munich. Flybe has previously named four other aircraft to honour local sporting heroes – George Best in Belfast, Kevin Keegan in Newcastle, Matt le Tissier in Southampton and Adam Stansfield in Exeter. G-BD was delivered to Flybe on the 2nd August 2009 but was initially one of four Q400s wet leased out to Olympic Air and based in Athens. At the end of the lease period she entered service with Flybe on the 31st October 2010.
